The Christuskirche Karlsruhe, built in 1900, is one of the music centers of the Baden regional church. It is architecturally remarkable due to its rounded layout and pulpit altar. Since 2018, the young Peter Gortner, who most recently trained with Simon Halsey in Birmingham, has been directing the ensembles at Christuskirche, including the powerful chamber choir. No wonder he has grown fond of English vocal music! Today we hear a beautiful selection of works from the Romantic period, such as the delicate In the Bleak Midwinter by Holst.
