Conclusion with stand-up reception
The Nürnbergisch Geigenwerk is a keyboard instrument similar to the harpsichord with the difference that the strings are bowed by five wheels (the string is pressed onto the wheel via the key) - in other words, a stringed instrument.
The Nuremberg violin movement was developed by Hans Haiden at the end of the 16th century and over 20 of them were built.
However, none of them have survived.
After five years of research and planning, Kurt Reichmann (hurdy-gurdy maker from Frankfurt) rebuilt it in 1985 - related to the hurdy-gurdy by the bowed wheel - making it possible to experience the special sound.
In 1986, the director of the film
"In the Name of the Rose" Jean Jacques Annaud visited Kurt's workshop and the violin was then used to sample the film music.
