Last Dance for Change

Wrapped in a gloomy dystopian fairy tale, the current THEATERHAUS+PLUS production LAST CHANCE DANCE FOR CHANGE! tells of the destruction of the earth and the decline of our civilization. It asks for ways out and possible glimmers of hope that will keep us fighting to preserve our world.

There is currently hardly a greater challenge than the preservation of the natural foundations of human life. Many regional and global environmental problems have a direct impact on people's lives.
The most pressing environmental problems concern the atmosphere and the climate system, the oceans, biodiversity and the declining quality of soil and water.
Humans are destroying the basis of their livelihood and thus themselves!
The production LAST CHANCE DANCE FOR CHANGE! gets to the bottom of this paradox. 16 young people worked intensively with a dance teacher and two theater teachers on topics relating to sustainability and ecology as part of the rehearsal process and brought the results of their work to the stage artistically.
The result is a modern dance theater piece that deals with the major social and ecological challenges facing current and future generations and the associated need to join forces.

This production is the result of a four-month project phase from September 2022 - January 2023 with weekly rehearsals and intensive rehearsal weekends. It is part of the cultural education and theater pedagogy THEATERHAUS+PLUS at Theaterhaus Stuttgart, which offers targeted and continuous projects at secondary schools to encourage students to participate in extracurricular projects and to engage with dance and theater in their free time in the long term.
