Meal time! Stories from Europe's tables
Wladimir Kaminer is always interested in his neighbors. Whether it's about individual people or entire countries. And what better way to get to know each other than over a meal together? When you are a guest at a foreign table, you not only absorb the culture of others, you also learn about their dreams, wishes, worries and hopes.
On his travels through Europe, he nibbled from the plates of Portugal as well as from the honey pots of Bulgaria, he drank the wine of Moldova and dipped his spoon into the pots of Serbia. The stories of the people and their cultures that he experiences are just as varied, colorful and surprising as the food on his journey.
