He is muscular, artistically inclined and the star of his own series - Olivia Öl could hardly have wished for a better catch than her spinach-obsessed sailor Popeye. The two meet in a language course, she celebrates her first successes as an aspiring novelist, he dreams of studying film directing. Although she is very concerned about her independence and has never wanted to share a bank account, let alone have children, she accepts the relationship. But she soon has the feeling that every meeting with this fleeting lover could be her last. It also takes strength to have to constantly measure herself against her ex and to pat the wounded ego of an unrecognized artist whose script has never been longer than two pages - especially as he has never even read her novels. But there can be something attractive about vulnerability and wounded pride. And it's nice to be part of a couple, to finally be able to measure up to the others, to feel the looks of those who turn to Popeye. And after all, who would argue that a relationship doesn't also mean work and sacrifice?
