MacBes – Folk leads you everywhere

Irish Folk Music

MacBes started out as two musicians from the south. One, Mike "Mac" McCarthy (guitar, mandolin and vocals), from the south of Ireland, from Cork; the other, Bertram "Bes" Schleicher (guitar and vocals), from the German southwest, from Stuttgart-Hofen. They were brought together by 's Dudelsäckle, the fun of making music and a love of folk music, especially that of the Emerald Isle. In the meantime, the band has grown to include two more musicians. Alois Wimmer from Austria on double bass and Axel Hege from Stuttgart-Gaisburg on bodhrán, blues harp etc. provide a new, exciting sound.
The repertoire ranges from traditional to more modern folk. Mainly from Ireland, but Scotland and the others are not neglected either. Trips across the pond to blues, bluegrass, country, hillbilly and the like round off the repertoire.
