MAGRO X LISELOTTE ÖSTBLOM

MAGRO and Liselotte Östblom aka "smiling LIZ" present an exciting mix of jazz, hip-hop and R&B. Together they combine MAGRO's dynamic beats and smiling LIZ's melodic vocals to create a unique sound experience.

Berlin-based drummer and producer MAGRO creates a unique blend of acoustic jazz and produced hip-hop/RnB. Inspired by legends such as Herbie Hancock, J Dilla and Flying Lotus, MAGRO's sound defies categorization and fuses genres in a fresh and innovative way.
His first album "Trippin" was awarded the "German Jazz Award" (for "Debut Album of the Year"). Now he has just released his new EP "Tokyo Tree" on the renowned label "Sonar Kollektiv". This release marks a pivotal moment in his career that will introduce his distinctive international sound to a wider audience of discerning music lovers.

Over the years, Magro has worked with numerous artists as a drummer and producer - including Kurt Rosenwinkel, Wayne Snow, The Rolling Stones Project and Nightmares On Wax. He has also worked as a producer on many of Leona Berlin's albums and singles, including "Wrong Lane (featuring Snoop Dogg)". Tours and international festival appearances such as Tremplin Jazz Avignon, WIM Festival Zambia, Belgrade Jazz Festival and Sharpe Festival have already taken him around the world.

Singer and producer Liselotte Östblom, who hails from Stockholm and London, presents her new project "smiling LIZ". It combines multi-layered harmonies, futuristic sounds and poetic lo-fi beats to frame her soulful vocals, which are at the center of her live production with loops, beat-making and extensive improvisations. She has been featured by jazz greats such as Gregory Hutchinson on the Karriem Riggins-produced album DA BANG (2023) and collaborates with drummer Robert "Sput" Searight (Kendrick Lamar, Snarky Puppy), Aaron The Bassist, Yaahn "Hunter", Doobie Powell and numerous other UK jazz artists. The world of "smiling LIS" intersects with fashion and performance with live looping, scat, spoken word and virtuoso vocals.
