Manfred Schütt & Blue Sheep have been inspired by the sound of Kansas City and reinterpret it with a new twist in the jazz tradition.
KANSAS CITY IN THE 30'S: These are hard times! Prohibition. The Great Depression. The Great Depression, which led to the closure of most American jazz clubs. Now all the great musicians of the time were coming together at '18th and Vine' (Kansas City's famous entertainment district). Life was raging in the city! The extensive jam sessions after the concerts led to a veritable jazz renaissance, comparable to the founding years of New Orleans. The blues was given an urban touch, the melodies were transformed into sparkling riffs and the beat was brought up to the latest swing standards. Musicians such as Benny Moten, Count Basie and Lester Young are among the most important representatives of the new era.
Manfred Schütt & Blue Sheep have been inspired by the sound of Kansas City and reinterpret it with a new twist, in keeping with the jazz tradition.
