Maria Masur // Postcard Picture

The second album by Amsterdam-based singer Maria Masur shows a new facet of her artistic development.

With "Postcard Picture" (DMG Germany), she goes back to her first great love, pop, without denying the influences of her jazz studies in Stuttgart. Born in Berlin and now at home in Haarlem, the singer presents a selected collection of very personal songs. Maria attaches great importance to the right words and so her compositions are characterized above all by the depth of her lyrics. At the same time, the music breathes a power and clarity that can only come from a skillful combination of pop and jazz elements. Each song on the album sounds like a personal postcard, inspired by the places Maria has lived in: Berlin - Mainz - Lisbon - Stuttgart - Ithaca (NY, USA) - Haarlem (NL).

The more intimate trio line-up was a conscious decision to give more space to the lyrics and the delicacy of the voice. The Stuttgart musicians Daniel Weiß (piano) and Brian Thiel (double bass) fulfill this intention excellently and complement the stories with catchy arrangements and a rousing joy of playing. Postcard Picture invites you to listen, reflect and enjoy.
