Swing Forever - Three musicians from Germany and Austria offer a musical treat in a class of its own
Swing Forever: The Max Greger jr. trio sets off a firework display of swing, blues and jazz music. Max Greger jr. leads the audience through the varied program in his usual congenial manner. He himself was born with musicality. He was a successful pianist and singer in his famous father's big band for many years. But Max Greger jr.'s great passion is swing, blues and jazz, especially with compositions by George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson, Henry Mancini, Lester Young and other famous composers of the time. The brilliant pianist Max Greger jr. brings two outstanding musicians from the European jazz scene with him.
Born in Munich in 1951, Max Greger Jr. began his first attempts at the piano at the age of five. During his classical music studies, he worked as a studio musician and became a member of the "black" Munich rock jazz band Hotline, in which he mainly played the Hammond organ. It was at this time that he first became known in the southern German jazz and rock scene.
In 1970, at the age of 19, Max had to spontaneously stand in for the pianist of the legendary Max Greger Big Band, who had fallen ill, and from that day on he was a permanent member of his father's extremely successful orchestra for nine years. In 1972, he founded his own jazz trio "Catch Up", which included three musicians from the Greger band: Max Greger Jr. (piano, Fender Rhodes and Hammond B3), Milan Pilar (bass) and Charly Antolini (drums, percussion).
Max musically accompanied various well-known vocal soloists. He "jammed" in jazz ensembles with musicians such as Benny Bailey, Jimmy Woode, Herb Geller, Günter Lenz, Ack van Rooyen, Bobby Burges, Bobby Jones, Horst Jankowski and many others. In addition to his internationally successful work as a pianist, composer and arranger, Max Greger Jr. leads several jazz formations with a wide range of styles from blues, swing and mainstream to soul jazz. Together with his father, with whom he harmonizes perfectly, he performs at many swing concerts. Max Greger jr. is an extremely sensitive pianist and singer who interprets jazz with his characteristic swinging style.
Line-up: Max Greger jr. (p, voc); Mini Schulz (b); Bernd Reiter (dr)
