Max Treutner Quartett • presented by IG Jazz

The Max Treutner Quartet unites top-class musicians and presents a dynamic mixture of contemporary jazz and improvisational freedom.

The band draws on a broad stylistic spectrum inspired by the pioneers of the US jazz scene and never misses an opportunity to showcase the creativity and joy of playing in their improvised passages.

At the head of the quartet is the young saxophonist Max Treutner, who has appeared on stage with numerous projects and bands in both Germany and Switzerland. He has already toured with the Swiss Jazz Orchestra, the Bundesjazzorchester (BuJazzO), the TanzKompanie and the Teddy Teclebrhan Show Band. Since 2024, he has performed regularly with the SWR Bigband on various stages in Germany. His debut album, which he recorded this year with prominent musicians in New York, will be released in 2025.

Clara Vetter, winner of the 2023 Baden-Württemberg State Jazz Prize, will provide a style-defining sound on the piano. As a composer for the Bundesjazzorchester (BuJazzO) and with performances together with musicians such as Ronny Graupe, Fabian Arends and Phil Donkin, she has established herself as one of the most exciting young pianists on the German jazz scene.

The bassist Mario Angelov from Mannheim brings his versatile experience and excellent playing to the band. As one of the most promising bassists on the German jazz scene, he complements the quartet with his powerful and precise sound.

The drummer Lisa Wilhelm, one of the most influential young voices in German jazz, was recently awarded the soloist prize of the Young German Jazz Award. Her debut album with her quintet, which was released in 2023 and voted "Record of the Week" by NDR, demonstrates her extraordinary musicality. Lisa is active in numerous jazz and pop projects and impresses with her versatility and expressiveness.
