Memory Hotel (Deutschland, Frankreich, 2024)

At the ITFS we are showing "Memory Hotel" - Little Sophie loses her parents and her memory while on the run. Decades later, Hitler Youth Beckmann, of all people, helps her to remember and leave the hotel for America.

May 1945: Five-year-old Sophie flees the Russian front with her parents. Their destination is America. On the way to the harbor, they stop off at a hotel. What they didn't expect: there they meet the Nazi Scharf with his Hitler boy Beckmann. A fight ensues. Sophie loses her parents and her memory. The Russians occupy the hotel, find Sophie and make her the cook of the house. Decades later, Sophie remembers with the help of Beckmann - who is hiding in an air raid shelter - and leaves the hotel. She still has the ticket to America in her luggage.
