The challenge of performing all of a composer's works as part of a cycle - in this case the complete church music of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809-47) - leads to an examination of works that otherwise tend to fall through the cracks of program planning: For Hora est (1828) for 16 voices and the half-hour, 10-voice Te Deum (1826) can only be performed by the best vocal ensembles. The program is completed by four compositions by the youthful, experimental Felix on the 19th Psalm.
