Mozart: Requiem/Kraus: Symphonie Funèbre

Location:
Evangelische Markuskirche, Filderstraße 22, 70180 Stuttgart

Mozart's Requiem - a monumental masterpiece of orchestral music that was long regarded as one of the greatest, if not the best work by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It enjoys cult status and worldwide fame to this day.

In addition to Mozart's Requiem, the "Symphonie funèbre" by Joseph Martin Kraus is also on the program on 23 March.

The unjustly little-known composer Joseph Martin Kraus, born in Miltenberg in 1756 and died in Stockholm in 1792, is often referred to as the "Oldenwald Mozart" - not least because of the dates of his life, as he was born in the same year as Mozart and lived only one year longer.
His journey took him from Mannheim via Mainz and Göttingen to the court of the Swedish King Gustav III in Stockholm, where he worked as a conductor and composer.
