The name Karl Richter (1926-81) still resonates whenever the Munich Bach Choir is mentioned. Quite a few Bach fans still have Richter records at home and treasure them! Our listening expectations of Bach cantatas, but also of the choral sound itself, have changed, and the Munich choir also sounds finer and leaner today. Johanna Soller, previously director of the Munich Chamber Opera and the "new" conductor since 2023, stands for meticulous rehearsal work, but also for lively, stylistically knowledgeable music-making. She has selected highlights from the international Christmas repertoire, which merge into an impressive whole through improvisations by the Stiftskantor.
