Reading and conversation
Hanns-Josef Ortheil and Martin Kordić
For over 30 years, he has taught with great emphasis what for a long time seemed to be nasally unteachable: literary writing. Hanns-Josef Ortheil, author and professor at the University of Hildesheim, outlines a panorama of his unconventional and contemporary teaching in "Nach allen Regeln der Kunst". Taking the infamous blank page as his starting point, he invites readers on a wide-ranging journey through the lands of storytelling by means of inspiring writing tasks.
Other arts such as music, painting, photography and film are always part of the literary design and planning process. Hanns-Josef Ortheil's oeuvre now comprises more than seventy published books. Martin Kordić, former student, joins him in conversation
Hanns-Josef Ortheil is now a successful writer and editor at Carl Hanser Verlag. His most recent novel "Years with Martha" was published, for which he was awarded the Bremen Literature Prize and the Péter Horváth Literature Prize Stuttgart.
