In Maxim Gorky's drama "Night Shelter", the stage belongs to the humiliated, to those who have failed in life. People without a past, those drowning in alcohol, those who have always been called petty criminals. These failed, derailed and run-down inhabitants, excluded from bourgeois society, live together in a shanty town in a very small space and dream of a real life. Yet their struggle for self-worth and dignity, their dreaming and hoping, poignantly demonstrates the power of the human will to survive.
The setting is still topical when we think of the lives and living conditions of refugees in refugee facilities. The play by Theater Atelier was created in collaboration with the theater's acting studio. Professional actors and students perform together on stage. Mother tongue and learned German come together. Some of them speak with authentic accents because they came to Germany from eight different countries. This makes the production a unique intercultural production with an integrative aspect.
Ticket entitles the holder to travel to the venue on VVS public transport (2nd class) from 3 hours before the start of the performance and for the return journey until 5 a.m. the following day. VVS ticket is not transferable.
