NACHTSCHWÄRMERKONZERT: QUARTETT-NACHT

The Nachtschwärmerkonzerte concerts combine the BIX Jazzclub with the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra. The focus here is on composed and improvised music, music for classical symphony orchestra or jazz trio, for string quartet and jazz quartet.

The Gustav-Siegle-Haus opens its doors from 18:00. The BIX gastronomy offers drinks and snacks, a jazz band welcomes guests from 19:30 in the foyer of the Siegle-Haus, before the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra continues in the main hall at 20:30. Later, the late night continues in a relaxed jazz club atmosphere with live music in the BIX.

22:00: BAND IN THE BIX feat. Axel Schlosser & Thilo Wagner

"To Satch and Duke" is the name of the program featuring trumpeter Axel Schlosser from Oberkochen, Baden-Württemberg, soloist with the Big Band of Hessischer Rundfunk. The two central figures of the concert program are thus honored in one evening: Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington, who is embodied by the fantastic Thilo Wagner. On this evening, the Band in the Bix playfully covers the work of the two legends. Different angles are taken and niches illuminated, the familiar is juxtaposed with the rare, early works from the twenties are joined by compositions from the late sixties, when both musicians had matured into almost untouchable masters. The musicians' joy of playing is always in the foreground, their music swings and sparkles with energy. Not least due to the fact that neither Armstrong nor Ellington chose a quartet line-up as their musical habitat, the four musicians shape the sonic result in their own personal way and enrich the quartet night with highlights from these two great masters of jazz.
