Lecture by Prof. Goodman Gwasira (University of Namibia) and Johanna Ndjamba (National Museum of Namibia) at the Linden-Museum Stuttgart.

Goodman Gwasira and Johanna Ndjamba will trace the origins and development of Namibian Heritage Studies and talk about the challenges in transnational partnerships. They also highlight the role of community involvement and local knowledge as well as the (re)learning of traditional practices for the discipline. A case study on the preservation of leather illustrates the intersection of science, museums and indigenous knowledge. The presentation concludes with important findings and recommendations for strengthening research on Namibia's cultural heritage.
