Odd Beholder is the electronica / art pop project of Swiss musician Daniela Weinmann, with which she precisely and laconically records the oddities, shadows and misunderstandings of our time.

Weinmann, who is co-founder of Music Declares Emergency Switzerland, tells of alienation and escapism, of emancipation and the view of a possible better world. Her version of embracing, dark pop music confronts unpleasant truths while offering solace.
Weinmann is currently working on Odd Beholder's third album, dealing with the struggle for mental health and coming to terms with her own family history. She talks about inherited traumas and growing up within uninspiring perspectives and conservative gender role models. She is once again collaborating with Berlin-based Douglas Greed, with whom she has already worked on "Sunny Bay" across various lockdowns and temporary border closures.
The EP "Lost in Communication" - a collaboration with Long Tall Jefferson - will be released in May. Originally just an exchange of ideas during another coronavirus shutdown phase, it develops into a comprehensive discussion that is also accompanied by a podcast. In "Songs und so" they talk with guests such as Evelinn Trouble or Leoni Leoni about songwriting techniques and cultural frameworks as well as language and identity.
Odd Beholder is invited to important festivals such as Great Escape Festival (UK), Eurosonic Festival (NL) or the Reeperbahnfestival (D) and tours in various constellations in China, Italy, Germany and Switzerland. The Hamburg electropop duo Hundreds and Bodi Bill have explicitly asked Odd Beholder to accompany their respective tours.
Odd Beholder's music is cinematic. The works for the accompanying videos are carefully chosen. The video clip for the single "Landscape Escape", shot in Azerbaijan by Berlin filmmakers Grambow & Kirchknopf in collaboration with the Azerbaijan Social & Modern Dance Association, won the jury prize at the 2017 "Best Swiss Video Clip" awards. The piece is also used in the film "Mario", which deals with the difficult handling of homosexuality in soccer.
