ONKeL fISCH are the beacons of hope in the German satirical landscape. And wherever they go, they bring hope with them. Their motto: You can always despair. It's far too easy to rant about everything: climate change, war, prices, the AfD, Berlin, Donald Trump or Germany's current entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.
In the constant bombardment of doomsayers and wiseacres, many people believe they are already on the brink. Perhaps, but the best view is from the precipice.
Most things are primarily a question of perspective. It doesn't really matter whether the glass is half full or half empty. More important: we have something to drink!
The two movement fanatics spread hope wherever they can. And how they can: With fun, singing, dancing and all at German speed and in slow motion. Modern cabaret for balls between expectation and attitude
Of course, Heiner Müller once said that optimism is just a lack of information. But you have to add: so is pessimism!
ONKeL fISCH are on a hopeful satirical mission across the country to strengthen our mental defenses. And that's pretty funny!
Political, topical and brilliantly researched
Uncle Fish goes one better. The way they shake their punchlines out of their sleeves, switching from colorful to politically tough topics and right back again, is simply well done dramaturgically - and hilariously to the point. And the cabaret, one may take home from this evening, is not yet lost.
