Queens of the Stone Age

Fans of the world's dominant contemporary rock band had to wait six long years for new music, but in June 2023 the time had finally come: "In Times New Roman...", the eighth album by Queens of the Stone Age, was released. Immediately afterwards, the quintet, which is one of the best rock bands of the new millennium, especially live, embarked on an extensive world tour, which also took them to Germany in the fall for three sold-out shows in Frankfurt, Berlin and Düsseldorf. In the summer of 2024, the band returned to Hamburg for another concert, the second planned show in Berlin had to be canceled due to illness and has now been rescheduled for 12.8.2025, supplemented by further appearances in Munich, Stuttgart and Bonn. The grandiose desert rock legends, founded in 1996 by their charismatic frontman Joshua Homme, present a real rock beast with corners, edges and no compromises with their new album "In Times New Roman..." and thus a return to their original strengths. They are the result of a multidimensional musical unity that transcends the genre they have created. QOTSA is too prolific, ambitious and just plain brilliant to be categorized. QOTSA have consistently evolved over the course of eight absolutely essential albums, giving us song gems such as "No One Knows", "Little Sister", "My God is the Sun", "Emotion Sickness" and many more hits. Undeniably rocking - but always with the blood, sweat and dark magical aura that only Homme and his congenial comrades-in-arms can deliver. However, the subtext of this radical sound also conveys an unmistakable reaction to the current music scene, the hype of autotune, aseptic studio productions and empty lyrics. This bite found a powerful, uncompromising echo in their shows during their world tour. Massive grooves, thrusting guitar licks, pounding bass and Joshua Homme's unique vocals between raw power and an enormous sense of melody characterize the career of the Queens of the Stone Age, who, in addition to Joshua Homme, consist of the distinguished musicians Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita and Jon Theodore. Since their third album "Songs for the Deaf" in 2002 at the latest, the Queens have been one of the leading rock bands of the present day. Many other albums such as "Rated R", "Era Vulgaris" and "...Like Clockwork" are regarded as young classics of powerful rock music, while the band has also established itself as one of the most intense live acts on the planet. After the band tried out new, sometimes surprisingly poppy songs and sounds on their last album "Villains" in collaboration with successful producer Mark Ronson, "In Times New Roman..." marked a return to full-blooded guitar rock. Regardless of this, one thing is rock-solid: when the Queens of the Stone Age take to the stage, no T-shirt stays dry. Their shows are far too powerful and overwhelming for that. They are accompanied at these shows by London all-female act So Good, who have already made a name for themselves in the UK with their mixture of Brat Pop, Hip Hop and Punk and released their debut EP "Dogs" the year before last.
