RAUHNACHT
A cabaret thriller
In "RAUHNACHT", Stefan Leonhardsberger embodies ten offbeat characters, from a single farmer to a psychopathic teenager, who could not have been better invented by Tarantino. Martin Schmid accompanies the bitterly evil one-man show with a cinematic live soundtrack.
When 15-year-old Nora Höllerbauer disappears without a trace on New Year's Eve, her father Erich sets out to find her. But instead of his daughter, the lonely farmer only encounters half-strong corpses of booze, frightened villagers and a talkative raven. A dark secret surrounds Nora's disappearance - and soon the snow in tranquil Engelsberg turns purple.
In this black-humored winter thriller, author Paul Klambauer creates ten characters, which Stefan Leonhardsberger brings to the stage in an ecstatic solo performance. He sings, dances and gets into his own pants while a mysterious story unfolds that vividly shows us why it's better to stay at home on New Year's Eve. His partner Martin Schmid provides the live soundtrack as an acoustic stage designer with guitar and voice.
Press reviews
"A fantastic evening, a great moment for a genre that no one has mastered like its inventors Stefan Leonhardsberger and author Paul Klambauer. Six out of six stars." (Oberösterreichische Nachrichten)
"Tarantino would be thrilled." (Neues Volksblatt)
"Stefan Leonhardsberger plays ten crazy characters in a highly entertaining New Year's thriller. The wondrous soundtrack comes from Martin Schmid's guitar. [...] This is great cinema on a small stage." (Wiener Zeitung)
"Laughter, but also horror and amazement at the virtuoso acting of actor Stefan Leonhardsberger, who single-handedly and in rapid changes embodies ten completely different characters, and at Martin Schmid's musical contributions. The images that the two of them create using only their bodies, a chair and an acoustic musical instrument are so vivid that the audience sometimes almost wishes they weren't. Anyone with a penchant for splatter movies, narrative theater and morbid Austrian humor will love "Rauhnacht"." (Bad Reichenhaller Tagblatt)
