It is love at first sight and at the same time a love that should not be: the mutual hatred of their families separates the most famous of all lovers. Choreographer John Cranko brings Verona's goings-on to life with gripping pas de deux, heated fencing battles, magnificent balls and spirited carnival scenes. He draws his dreamy Romeo, his impetuous Juliet and all the other characters so clearly that you are drawn into the maelstrom of events from the very beginning. From the dizzying heights of fresh love, you plunge with the protagonists into a maelstrom of senseless violence.
