Schütz: Weihnachtsmotetten aus der Geistlichen Chormusik (1648)

The Advent and Christmas motets from Heinrich Schütz's "Geistliche Chormusik", published in 1648, form a small Christmas oratorio with a magic all of its own when played one after the other.

Prophetic words from the Old Testament about the appearance of the Messiah and passages from the apostles' letters, which proclaim the grace and truth of Jesus, are set to music by Schütz in five to eight-part motets with basso continuo accompaniment in a highly expressive manner.
