An artistic collaboration between Schauspiel Stuttgart, Ingrid Hertfelder and the Stuttgart Media University.
The City of Stuttgart's science festival presents a unique project that combines technological innovation with artistic expertise. Under the title "Sehnsuchtsorte - Spielzeitbuch Schauspiel Stuttgart", Burkhard Kosminski, Artistic Director of the Staatstheater, Sven Meyer and Roman Scheremetiev have initiated an extraordinary artistic journey together with the Stuttgart Media University and photographer Ingrid Hertfelder. Students from the Master's degree course in Audiovisual Media (Prof. Jan Adamczyk) took the ensemble of the theatre to imaginary places of longing and visualized them with the help of artificial intelligence.
The actors had the opportunity to create their fantasy worlds and be portrayed in their desired environments. These locations range from the metropolis of New York to the vastness of the steppe and fantastic scenes such as flying camels and magical star fairies. Through close collaboration with photographer Ingrid Hertfelder and the students, a workflow was developed from the image concept to the final photography in the green screen studio at the Hochschule der Medien. Using state-of-the-art AI tools, the ideas were transformed into breathtaking images.
The result of this collaboration can be admired in the Schauspiel Stuttgart 2024/25 season book, where each photograph tells its own story. The exhibition on the 2nd floor of Stuttgart City Hall offers a fascinating insight into the possibilities of modern image design and the combination of technology and art.
