SGT. PEPPER´S LONLEY HEARTS CLUB BAND
- Location:
- Theaterhaus, Siemensstr. 11, 70469 Stuttgart
The most influential album in pop and rock history was released in 1967: "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", the Beatles' eighth LP. This colorful album full of sonic magic and surreal melancholy was already celebrated as a total work of art when it was released.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Theater Rigiblick is performing "Sgt. Pepper" live with around 30 rock and classical musicians.
"Sgt. Pepper" is in many ways a turning point in the Beatles' breathtaking career. With this album, the Beatles discover the recording studio as their new stage, leave their suits and mushroom heads behind and never play a concert in front of an audience again. They became sound researchers, pioneers of studio technology, anything became possible, their creative fantasies would change the music world forever. In all-night recording sessions, John, Paul, George and Ringo gradually became Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr. Surprised by their own individual aspirations, the four of them take refuge in the imaginary "Lonely Hearts Club Band" - with far-reaching consequences. This tribute is also a tribute to Brian Epstein, the most successful manager in pop music, who led the Beatles to the top of international show business with unerring instinct. No one knew the Beatles' chemistry better than he did.
Brian Epstein died of an overdose of pills in August 1967.
Silvester von Hösslin and Daniel Rohr host the evening and bring this musically creative and socially exciting time back to life through the imaginary eyes of Brian Epstein.
