FITZ/PZ/FILMWINTER

"Shorties" is a cooperation project launched in fall 2020 by FITZ, Stuttgarter Filmwinter and Produktionszentrum Tanz und Performance. For over three years, they have been jointly developing an event concept that presents thematically linked contributions from puppet theater, dance and film. The result is a multifaceted evening that combines lightness and artistic seriousness and helps to connect people with very different artistic experiences.

The fly is considered superfluous, meaningless, a faithful but annoying, obnoxious companion. Intimacy is denied to it, which seeks to defile everything. She is not loved, she is not given a pet name, she is beaten to death. To improve its reputation, we take a close look at it together. We observe giant flies in the larval stage, during reproduction, see them crawling up the walls, laying eggs, we watch them liquefy solids with their saliva and will see if they get on our nerves ...

Spanish dancer Paco Ladrón has shortened his one-hour solo performance "YAGA" to 25 minutes for Shorties #17. It centers on an ambitious airplane pilot whose quest for altitude ends in a devastating crash - a metaphor for artistic careers and the concept of "success". The performance explores the consequences of the crash: what happens to the pilot's body, what happens to his dreams? Where is home?
