Waldo Weathers first appeared on stage at the age of twelve in a club with the band New Birth. As a saxophonist, Weathers began with rhythm and blues bands, but soon switched to jazz and funk. In 1985, he was the first country sax player of color to be honored by the Country Music Hall of Fame. From 1979 to 1989, Weathers performed on stage with music greats Charley Pride and Johnnie Taylor. Waldo Weathers played as a headliner on the MS Europa from 2005 to 2009. From 2010 to 2011 he accompanied Phil Collins on German stages. Waldo Weathers was a member of the James Brown band from 1993 to 2006 and also played several solos on Brown's albums and the live DVD Live at the House of Blues during this time. Weathers has also performed on stage with B.B. King, Al Green, Little Richard, Harriet Lewis and many others.
In August 2008, Waldo Weathers was knighted by the German "Duke of Meinbrexen Manor". Since then he has called himself "Sir Waldo Weathers of Meinbrexen". Sir Waldo Weathers was also a member of the show band Sweet Soul Music Revue and plays in his own two bands, Sir Waldo Weathers with the Soul of James Brown and Classic Soul Orchestra.
