Skunk Anansie

Skunk Anansie return to Germany for five concerts

Skunk Anansie are back - 30 years after their formation and more than eight years after their last studio album, fans can once again look forward to new music and a European tour!
When Skunk Anansie was formed in London in 1994, the music scene was dominated by Britpop - dominated by white men and their guitars. But the four band members Deborah "Skin" Dyer, Martin "Ace" Kent, Richard "Cass" Lewis and Robbie stood out from the crowd: as one of the first mixed-race bands, they attracted attention right from the start. As classic outsiders, they always took a political and activist stance, but above all they made a name for themselves in Britrock as an outstanding live band. Just a few weeks after their first gig, they were signed to a record deal and released their debut album "Paranoid and Sunburnt" in 1995. Shortly afterwards, drummer Robbie France left the band and Mark Richardson took his place. Their second album "Stoosh" brought them their international breakthrough in 1996 and platinum status in the UK. This was followed three years later by "Post Orgasmic Chill" and another milestone: after just five years in the band's history, they were headlining the legendary Glastonbury Festival. At the beginning of the new millennium, sad news for many fans followed: the band announced a break to allow all members more space for their respective solo projects. However, they made a triumphant return in 2008 - with a sold-out reunion tour and the best-of album "Smashes & Trashes". In 2010, the fourth studio album "Wonderlustre" was released, which achieved gold status in several European countries. The albums "Black Traffic" (2012) and "Anarchytecture" (2016) were also able to build on their earlier successes and were celebrated by fans and critics alike. Skunk Anansie have always been known for their captivating live performances - their charismatic frontwoman Skin made them stand out from the crowd from the very beginning. They have already been able to demonstrate their energy as the support act for greats such as U2, David Bowie and Aerosmith.

After more than 30 years of band history, Skunk Anansie are rightly regarded as one of the most influential British bands of all time. Their unique interpretation of punk and their timeless political lyrics make them more relevant today than ever. They will prove this in spring 2025: a long-awaited European tour is coming up, during which they will also play five shows in Germany. If you want to experience this musical highlight live, you should secure your tickets quickly!
