It was the young queen's favorite place, this medieval Wirtemberg castle on the Rotenberg with its view of the lovely Neckar valley. She wanted to be buried there one day. Little did she know how quickly her wish would become a sad reality. She died on January 9, 1819 and when the magnificent tomb in the mausoleum in Rotenberg was ready in the spring of 1824, the dead queen was transferred from the collegiate church to her final resting place in the early hours of June 5.
