A queen returns. It was the young Queen Katharina Pavlovna's favorite place, this medieval Wirtemberg Castle on the Rotenberg with its view of the lovely Neckar Valley. She wanted to be buried there one day. She had no idea how quickly her wish would become a sad reality.
Katharina immediately became involved in Stuttgart: many institutions that still exist in Stuttgart today can be traced back to her initiative: the Katharinenstift for girls' education, the savings bank as a provision for poor people and - as a kind of memorial after her death - the Katharinenhospital.
