Suzanne and her daughter Ella work together on a stop-motion animation film with creepy miniature clay figures. Suzanne directs with a strict hand. When her mother falls into a coma, Ella wants to finish the short film on her own. Her mother's perfectionism hangs like a dark shadow over her work and Ella threatens to break under the pressure. When a little girl visits her in the studio and gives her an abstruse idea, her life and the film begin to spiral out of control.
