Photo and video lecture by marine photographer Julia Ochs from the Ocean Gallery at Generationenhaus West
Julia Ochs lives in Stuttgart and has been working as a freelance photographer specializing in marine photography since 2013. Her photographs are characterized by a deep connection to nature, especially the ocean. She captures fascinating water textures, breathtaking landscapes and the multifaceted beauty of the oceans in an impressive way. In collaboration with associations and marine conservation organizations, she is actively committed to protecting the oceans.
In 2023, she realized her dream and opened the OCEAN GALLERY as a pop-up concept in downtown Stuttgart. With this gallery, Julia Ochs creates a unique combination of art and activism. The OCEAN GALLERY takes visitors on a visual journey along the coasts and deep into the vastness of the ocean. At the same time, the gallery pursues an ambitious goal: to raise awareness of the urgent need to protect the oceans and actively support marine conservation projects financially through the sale of artworks.
In STORYTIME, Julia Ochs takes her audience on a journey into icy waters, to her personal limits and to moments in which she surpasses herself with breathtaking images and video recordings. She tells of turtles in distress, the Arctic in transition, the threat of overfishing and impressive encounters with orcas in the water. She not only shows the fascinating beauty of the oceans, but also their fragility - and why their protection is so crucial. Her inspiring, moving and humorous talks encourage people to think, rethink and act.
