Exhibition at the Linden-Museum Stuttgart Blossoms, birds and fruit in East Asian painting

The cabinet exhibition in the East Asia department presents works by the artist Monika Hoffer together with works of flower and bird painting by well-known Chinese and Japanese artists from the 16th to 20th centuries from our collection. This genre, highly valued by traditional scholars of East Asia, aims to unite the objective and subjective worlds, the fusion of one's own feelings and the contemplation of nature. The paintings thus reflect the personalities of the artists, which were, however, shaped and refined by the precise observation of the motifs. As the works of East Asian painting may only be exposed to light for a limited period of time, we change these exhibits regularly. In doing so, we always set new thematic focuses in this exhibition area.
