From 20 September to 2 February 2025, the major special exhibition ‘Stuttgart - City of Kings (1718-1918)’ at the StadtPalais - Museum für Stuttgart presents the history of Stuttgart from the mid-18th century to the November Revolution of 1918, which is closely linked to the rise of Württemberg's rule from the dukes to the electors to the king. 25 objects from Stuttgart's city history - for the first time from the StadtPalais collection, which has rarely been shown before - take centre stage and are staged in large spatial images, explained in an exciting audio track and supplemented by a text track.
Spatial staging with the help of AI and a playable Playmobil city
The 25 objects are brought to life in the StadtPalais with the help of AI in floor-to-ceiling images as a kind of film set. Based on original drawings, engravings, graphics and lithographs, KI creates spectacular visual worlds that lend the historical objects a new fascination in their own way. A huge, playable Playmobil city awaits younger visitors in the exhibition, in which they can explore Stuttgart's market square from around 1800. The ‘Stuttgart - City of Kings’ experience also offers children's cinema, family workshops, open dance classes and guided tours.
The exhibition is supported by Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG.
