The Leonard Cohen Project

Location:
Theaterhaus, Siemensstr. 11, 70469 Stuttgart

A program by guitarists Dempfle and Gutmann.
As guest: Peter Grohmann (language)

"Songs Of Love And Hate" is a studio album by the Canadian musician and writer Leonard Cohen from 1971. However, as this theme runs like a red thread through almost all of his works, it also became the title of the first joint production of the Leonard Cohen Project, which was created in November 2012.

The musicians Jürgen Gutmann (guitar, vocals) and Manuel Dempfle (guitar, vocals) concentrate primarily on the early songs, which are still largely characterized by Cohen's distinctive voice and guitar accompaniment without much orchestral accompaniment. However, the two musicians do not copy Leonard Cohen, but play his early songs in their own authentic version, reduced entirely to guitar music and vocals.

Peter Grohmann, satirist and philosopher, interprets and comments on the translations into German with contemporary and cross-referenced footnotes.

The duo's live program is the best entertainment and "made by hand". Nevertheless - or precisely because of this - the songs such as "Suzanne", "Famous Blue Raincoat", "Bird On The Wire", So Long, Marianne" ... sound absolutely credible and convincing - genuine and yet completely different.

Look forward to two hours of musical enjoyment that touches the soul.
