The Marvels - “60s Soul at it’s best"

Rough, hot, plump and dirty! A declaration of love to the great soul giants of America!

The ten ladies and gentlemen of the Marvels revive the spirit of a great era in a well-groomed, heated old-school sound. Two female singers and one male singer offer charming vocal variety. All three of them are unique soloists in their own right, merging in the three-part choir to create a highlight that would have brought tears of emotion to James Brown's sweaty face.

Sweaty, heated and as reliable as the steam turbine of a Mississippi team, the gentlemen of the rhythm section celebrate the purism of the 4/4 groove while the most dance-friendly and best-looking horn section in town virtuously punches its (dance) riffs into the sticky stage floor. Boredom is a thing of the past!

The Marvels show with exquisite soul gems from the 50s and 60s is a tribute to the great soul giants of America! For their program, "The Marvels" visited the archives of Motown, Stax and Atlantic Records, rehearsed the dance steps of the "Ikettes" and inhaled the legendary "Memphis sound" on numerous educational trips. Fast-paced and devoted, "The Marvels" celebrate many a rare soul pearl alongside great hits by Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye, eliciting a benevolently appreciative wink even from genre connoisseurs.
