The Robert Cray Band - 2025 Out Driving Around Tour
He is "the best all-round talent the scene has to offer" (Eric Clapton) and has been awarded five Grammies to date! At the end of June, Robert Cray will be celebrating a special anniversary with three dates in Germany. The tour is entitled "2025 Out Driving Around Tour: Groovin' 50 Years". Since the formation of his band in 1974, the name of the US guitarist/singer has been synonymous with a "popular mixture of Memphis soul, rhythm & blues and modern rock" (Rock Music Encyclopaedia). Critics, audiences and his colleagues hold the "hottest blues man who never picked cotton" (New Musical Express) in the highest esteem. He was invited by Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards to join Chuck Berry's backing group for the movie "Hail! Hail! Rock'n'Roll", performed enthusiastically on the world tours of Tina Turner and Eric Clapton, and played on albums by blues legend John Lee Hooker. The Robert Cray Band itself has recorded around twenty albums. He, Richard Cousins (bass), Dover Weinberg (keyboards) and drummer George Sluppick are undoubtedly spoiled for choice when it comes to putting together a representative cross-section for their concert program! Robert Cray, who was inducted into the Blues Hall Of Fame in 2011, said before the start of the tour, looking back on his 50-year career: "The band carries on with the same enthusiasm and the same joy in what we do - no matter how many awards we receive. Today is all that matters!" Reprint free of charge!
