War Child Benefizgala

Location:
Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Liederhalle Hegel-Saal, Berliner Platz 1, 70174 Stuttgart

Dancers and musicians from all over the world honour the memory of Michaela dePrince

As the organizer of numerous ballet events and cultural projects, GUI Dance is keen to pay tribute to Michaela dePrince's work as an ambassador for "WAR CHILD" and support her with a charity gala following her unexpected death on 10.9.24 at the age of 29.
Michaela dePrince was a major star in the USA and the Netherlands, both in classical and modern dance. A movie was released in the USA about her, who was born in Sierra Leone, grew up in difficult circumstances, was adopted by an American couple and started ballet at the age of 4. For several years, dePrince danced at the Netherland Dance Theatre before returning to the USA.

The 23-year-old pianist George Harliono won second prize at the difficult and demanding Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow. Harliono, whose mother is Indonesian (his father is British), became very famous in Indonesia after winning this award. Everyone is very proud of him, as no Indonesian has ever had a comparable success. George Harliono has since performed regularly in Asian countries, including China, with great success. He will play the Tchaikovsky piano concerto at the gala.

Classical and modern dance will dominate the charity gala. Among the renowned dancers are Rachele Buriassi and Esnel Ramos (Montreal), Jakob Feyferlik (Munich), Tzu-Chao Chou (Birmingham), Albert Gordon (Hong Kong), Xander Parish (ex-St. Petersburg), Yingyeu Wang (Dortmund), as well as other dancers from the National Ballet in Amsterdam. The Trio Schnittke will not miss the opportunity to perform in a star line-up with musicians from the Stuttgart State Orchestra.

From the program:
Tchaikovsky, Peter Ilitsch - Piano Concerto No. 1 - George Harliono (piano) with orchestra NN Rachmaninov, Sergei - Trio Élégiaque No. 1 in g minor - Trio Schnittke with Jewgeni Schuk (violin), Vache Bagratuni (cello), Andrej Jussow (piano) World premiere of a choreography by Emanuele Banici - Riccardo Ferlito (Staatsballett Stuttgart)
