Woyzeck needs money for his family. He works as a soldier. He also shaves the captain. And the doctor turns him into a laboratory animal. Woyzeck, the "creature", is an animal: he pisses on the wall like a dog, wiggles his ears like a donkey and makes a monkey of himself. His girlfriend Marie becomes a mangy cat, good for a whole breed of soldiers.
The puls_de_kern collective presents "Woyzeck" as the story of dehumanization laid out in Büchner's drama fragment: it tells of the maelstrom of degradation that pulls everyone involved deeper until a voice calls out "Stab! Stab!". There is no turning back.
Through the story of the animal analogies, the man-made system in which we find ourselves today is revealed: A system that makes creatures sick.
